Hey Guys & Dolls!
My Name is Cora, and I’m a blushaholic. No other complexion product make us look more beautiful or more youthful than the perfect cheek color. But I wasn’t always such a blush enthusiast; I remember growing up my mom always encouraging me to “put on a little blush honey” but as a teen of the 90′s it was très uncool. The washed out look was in, and Blush? Was for old people. Occasionally I’d throw on a bit of Avon Earthen Rose- a lovely bronzer/blush similar to Makeup Geek’s new Infatuation blush. Since then I’ve learned to love and have developed a passion for lovely blush colors. That brings me to the point- one of my fave indie makeup brands, Makeup Geek has recently launched their line of Blush. Makeup Geek is well known for their fantastic eyeshadows and pigments, and have built a reputation for their quality to price ratio. I’m so lucky to review* the entire line of blushes for you and give you an idea of how they dupe some high end blushes!
- Spellbound: Easy to wear natural warm pink, with a satin finish. On me it almost looks a bit peachy. A great Dupe for Cargo’s Tonga blush.
- Honeymoon: Sheer natural pink-brown satin with silver glitter. The base color is beautiful & build-able but the glitter is too much for me. Without the glitter it would be a gorgeous everyday color.
- Hanky Panky: Bright bubblegum pink. In terms of dupes it’s somewhere right in between MAC Dolly Mix & Pinch-O-Peach.
- Rendezvous: Highly pigmented matte purple-plum. Excellent dupe for the lighter part of MAC Vintage Grape Blush Ombre.
- Secret Admirer: Pastel, matte lilac. This one might make deeper skin looked washed out. Great one to have to cool down an over-warm blush or to use for layering. Make Up For Ever #9 is more purple & pigmented but close.
- Head Over Heels: Light cool pink with a silvery pearl, great for layering, gives the skin a lovely glow. The Closest dupe for MAC Giggly Mineralize Blush I’ve seen.
- First Love: Super pastel pink with subtle pink shimmer. This one looks a bit chalky to me, perhaps because it’s such a pale pastel. I can’t think of a blush dupe but it reminds me of MAC’s Seedy Pearl eyeshadow.
- Love Affair: Matte deep rose. This will look gorgeous on deeper skintones, lighter skin will want to dilute it with face powder or other wise us a lighter hand. Pinker than MAC Bite of An Apple and Tarte Frisky, Similar to Milani Bella Rosa.
- Infatuation: Matte peachy brown, sort of like a bronzer/blush hybrid. Very close to Avon Earthen Rose, MAC Coppertone; similar but less yellow compared to MAC Solar Riche bronzer.
- Summer Fling: Deep matte coral with a sheer finish. This being a little lighter in pigmentation makes it easier to wear & build up- deep skinned ladies & gents- look into this! This is less red compared to Mac Devlish.
- Romance: Very shimmery warm peach-pink with golden shimmer. Some will say this is a Dupe for NARS Orgasm, but this is warmer and less pink compared to Orgasm. Cargo’s Rome blush is similar but more orange. It’s like a NARS Orgasm and Cargo Rome hybrid.
- Smitten: Sheer matte light cantaloupe. Great for layering or for giving a lighter orange look- great if you’re too timid to try a full-on orange. This would be pretty as an all-over face warmer diluted with face powder.
- Bliss: Soft Coral Peach. GORGEOUS! This one is more flattering on me personally compared to Smitten due to the blight pink tone; it looks lovely on it’s own on as a layering blush. This one isa great dupe for MAC Melba blush.
